“All of us do not have equal talent. But all of us have an equal opportunity to develop our talents”. This quote by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is close to my heart. I read it ages ago, and it’s something I have followed and believed in ever since.
I moved from India as a student to pursue my Master’s in 2004.
My proudest achievement personally is seeing my daughter, Myrah, embrace and proudly carry forward our Indian heritage by learning and performing Indian dancing, which is very satisfying. Professionally, my business employs 55 people, and we believe in giving everyone a chance irrespective of their background.
I miss the hustle of India and the impromptu catchups. Australia has given me a new identity and made me a better version of who I aspired to be as a young kid. The initial challenges have moulded me into the person I am today.
My wife, Ruchika, and I maintain our connection with traditional culture by celebrating every Indian festival the same way our families did back in India.
My favourite word is “FAIL”, as to me it means “First Attempt in Learning”. I believe that failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough.

I believe migrants can be supported better by guiding them in the right direction on their basic needs, such as accommodation or jobs. My advice to fellow migrants would be to set a long-term goal and stick with it. Challenges are a part of life, so stay focused on your goals no matter what.
